Panettone And Pandoro
It was a Christmas spent abroad about 10 years ago that I tasted my first panettone and promptly fell in love with the delicious Milanese Christmas dessert. Since then, this sweet yeasty cake like bread and its Veronese cousin, the pandoro have become staples during the Christmas season with my family. We used to have to buy them from Australia and everyone would be fighting over a few loaves of bread. It speaks volumes about the growing popularity of the panettone and the pandoro in Singapore nowadays where even modest neighbourhood supermarkets like NTUC stock them for Christmas.
This is our first panettone of the year and in my favourite flavour too, a Tre Marie handmade loaf covered with dark chocolate icing. Yes, it is as yummy as it looks. Actually, by the time I publish this post, the panettone is already, burp, gone.

Wah!! fish fish want one too. That's sure a temptation for a chocoholic fish~

Hi ST,
I've never had this. There aren't any bakeries here that sell Italian pastries. At least not that I know of. Hmmm....maybe I can locate a recipe. =P

No ST, we don't like chocolate, so we get the classic type. But still indulgent.

Hi Reid, I have only tasted a freshly baked panettone once. I have a untried recipe for it. If you want it let me know.
umami, the classic plain type with butter sounds delicious. I have to give it a try
Hi pinkcocoa, You can go to the David Jones foodhall. Another good place will be the Norton Street Grocer in Norton Plaza at Norton Street, Leichhardt. Norton Street being the place to eat and buy Italian food.

Hello,
I like your longevity peach bun. My mother will celebrate her 80th birthday, but I can't find anyone make these beautiful buns in USA. I would like to make for for her special birthday, but I don't know how you make such a beautiful peach color. I was wondering if you would like to share with me your special technic. I can find the sweet bun recipe out of cook book, I just need to know how to decorate it that looks like peach. I hope you are willing to share your technic. Thank you!
