Cheat Eat Is One Year Old

On the 7th of September 2004, I started this food blog after eating too many potato chips. When the euphoria wore off, I thought to myself, is this really a good idea? I mean here we have a woman who has a short attention span, cannot write well, only knows how to use the camera in auto mode, is on some kind of diet most of the time, and to be perfectly honest, is a really lazy cook.

Yet here we are, a year later. I have gained knowledge, tried out new recipes, realized I still cannot bake a cake and most importantly made many new friends. To my readers and fellow food bloggers, thank you for visiting my blog and your kind comments. I would not have persevered if not for your support.

Since all these came about with a pack of chips, I thought it is apt that I celebrate with Royce Potatochip Chocolate. Salty chips coated with creamy milk chocolate may seem a strange combination. Yet the taste is harmonious and the chips are dangerously addictive.

Here's to friendship and more good food. Cheers!

I Love PEZ

Hellokittypez_1

In my brother, the male chauvinist's words, it is one of those things only females will buy: a Hello Kitty PEZ like candy dispenser. What makes it different from the normal PEZ is that the Hello Kitty figurine bows to pluck out the round candy from the dispenser. I hesitated at first because it does seem like a frivolous purchase. I am glad I bought this Kitty in the end. Chewing the powdery fruit flavored candy from the dispenser makes me nostalgic for more innocent times. I also get to show off to my female friends who want one for themselves too : )

Asia Pacific Food Expo 2004

Asiapacfoodexpo1

The Asia Pacific Food Expo is one of those event that combines the two greatest passion of Singaporeans: eating and shopping. Being averse to crowded places, I have never attended such food events till today. On a whim, my Mom wanted to go take a look and being the dutiful daughter, I decided to accompany her. Besides, it was a weekday, the crowd could not be that bad.

Food My Mom Bought For Me In China

China_gum

Lotte sugarless gum which are strangely packaged like medicine. Taste like fruit flavoured Chiclets. According to a Chinese friend they are the most popular candy in China now. I find that strange too.

Chocz

Chocz_1

After reading so many chocolatey posts from other food blogs, I can no longer ignore my own chocolate craving. Resistance is futile, I caved in and bought some chocolates today.

I have not heard of this brand before but according to Chocz's website, it is a Malaysian company having several outlets in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. It's chocolates contain no alcohol and are certified Halal so Muslims can enjoy them too. The fillings have a decidedly Asian slant using ingredients one normally do not associate with chocolate like basil, durian, lemongrass and cardamon. As of this moment, I have work my way through the lemongrass and the basil pralines and I must say I really like them. The smooth chocolate is not too sweet and complements the fillings perfectly. I never thought basil will tastes so good with bitter sweet ganache.

If I cannot squeeze into my new mini skirt after this chocolate binge, have I mentioned that it is a size S, I am blaming Renee, Mik and umami : )
