I am jumping up and down in a state of euphoria. I make Kek Batik and it is a huge hit with friends and family. The chocolaty, fudgy cake is so easy to make. Really, 45 minutes of non stop stirring is a great way to work the arms. Here is a little innovation of my own: I used a cake ring to make a little heart shape kek batik for a friend who is getting married this week.
Thank you Renee for the wonderful recipe. Kek Batik is my new favourite chocolate dessert!
wow! Your kek batik is so lovely! I like how you decorate the cake with pink flowers! Did you make them yourself too? Aiya, wish I have a heart-shaped cake ring too!
Renee told me she only needed to stir around 10min to get to the dry paste step. I also stirred for around 30-40min but still found the mixture a little too soft. Not sure why ours are a bit different from Renee.

10 minutes?! But the batter was so runny! I even checked the recipe to see if I missed out any flour. Umm, have to check with Renee when she comes back from her holiday.
Hee I wish I can say I made the gum paste roses but I actually bought them at the baking supplies store.
husky9, you got mail :)
Thanks Mrs T

hey ST
I made kek batik about 3 days ago and it took me less than 10 minutes to get a dry paste and it was slightly overcooked. Weird, huh?
This time I used an electric beater to help beat everything in and the batter was actually a bit thicker. I heat it on low flame but using the largest stove burner on my stovetop instead of using the smaller one. If you know what I mean. And it took less than 10min. After 10min, I had a super dry paste. The cake tasted dry this time. Yet another failure :(
